sleep, glorious sleep...

Wednesday, June 30, 2004

What do you do when there’s no electricity for 15 hours? Me? I slept. I spent the better part of Tuesday in my room, alternately sleeping and grumbling. :p

There’s a typhoon in the country and when there’s a typhoon, a blackout is expected. But 15 hours of with no electricity?! Dang! I did not expect that at all. We still don’t know what caused the power outage. It could be the because of the strong winds, which knocked out power lines, or a transformer blew up, or the power company just took precautions and cut the power. At this point I don’t really care what happened. I’m just glad the power is back.

The power outtage started at 12:30 pm, lasted until 12:30 am, then lost electricity again from 3 am till 6 am. Parusa talaga. Kakaines!

An hour after the power was cut, I thought I'd draw, so I got my HB & staedler pencils, my trusty eraser and my sketch pad. But I wasn't in the mood to draw, so all I could draw was a face. Then I thought I'd read, but because of the typhoon, it was kinda dark, so near-sighted me couldn't read well.

There wasn't anything much to do when there's no electricity and the weather was conducive to sleeping or cuddling, but I didn't have anyone to cuddle with (wahahaha!), so I slept. And I'd grumble and complain that there's still no electricity whenever I'd wake up from my long naps :p

I think I've been so used to the comforts of life that I didn't know what to do during the blackout, except sleep. Everyone at the house also slept or did their own thing, and I wasn't really in the mood to talk, and I guess so were they. :p I listened to the radio and I checked email until my cellphone's battery died out. But after that... yup, I slept again.

gimmick!!!

Sunday, June 27, 2004

It's past 3 in the morning and I am still awake. My siblings and I just came from the Studio 23 event Baybreak at Roxas Blvd. I was already sleepy on the way home, but now that I am here, sleep evades me.

The event started around 5 pm, but my brother, Toppet and my cousins, Geng, Geebee & Tess, arrived there around 8 pm, coz the cool bands will perform starting at 9 pm. We met my sister, Chie and her friends, Dinah & her hubby Dennis, Laya and Des at the venue. We didn't see them at first (kasi labo mata ko. hihihi!), but I called my sister and we saw them standing at the island. They got a good spot, coz even if we weren't really close to the stage, we could see it clearly.

I was meeting friends there, too and they (Janice, DK & their friend, Nats) arrived about 15 minutes after we did. It was funny, coz we were trying to locate each other but couldn't. I was talking to DK on the phone telling her where I was and looking through the crowd. Then I turned around and I saw them across the street, and they were just a few feet away from us. We saw Eloisa & her friends after a few minutes, and we chatted in between band performances.

My cousin Caloy and his wife Rochelle, were still waiting for their friends at Robinson's Place, and they arrived a few minutes before 9 pm.

The event at the Roxas Blvd. baywalk was sponsored by Studio 23, they were relaunching the station and they also launched their new station ID. It was also a "party" for their target market (the young ones, me included. hihihi!).

There were 5 stages along the span of the baywalk, one for a genre of music. One stage was for acoustic & jazz acts, one for hiphop & r&b, pop, rock & reggae, and dance music (with world famous djs spinning. 50 bands & 30 performers were there to entertain the large crowd. The southbound lanes of Roxas Blvd. were closed to traffic from Quirino Avenue to Pedro Gil, and the 3 northbound lanes were reduced to one lane in front of the stages, coz of the crowd.

We were in front of Camp Green, as the organizers called it, which was the rock & reggae stage. Some of the bands scheduled to perform were at Camp Green were: Rivermaya, Greyhounds (who were awesome!), Itchyworms, Sugarfree, Kapatid, & Sandwich.

We went to Camp Yellow around 10 pm to catch Bamboo perform (woohoo! but why were they on the pop stage?). When we got there, Truefaith was wrapping up their set and Bamboo was next. That was when the rain decided to make an appearance. We looked for shelter and we found a spot near the Malate Church. When the rain stopped we went back to Camp Yellow just as Bamboo took the stage. They were awesome! Galeng talaga! Wala na ako masabing iba, basta ang galing nila! Ira, aside from being a total eye candy (hehehe!) played the guitar really, really well. They worked up the crowd and everyone was singing along and jumping around. Even the motorists had to stop and watch them. They sang four songs, of course their hits Noypi & Mr. Clay, and Awit ng Kabataan & Elesi, from Nathan & Bamboo's former band, Rivermaya (who were performing, at the same time, over at Camp Green).

I thought it was unfair that the two bands were made to perform simultaneously. I would have wanted to see both bands but I'd rather see Bamboo so we went over to Camp Yellow. As soon as Bamboo ended their set, we made our way back to Camp Green. I thought I'd still catch even a bit of Rivermaya's performance but they were done. My cousins told me they also performed Awit & Elesi, as well as Balisong, Umaaraw, Umuulan and 214 (shucks! I wanted to hear that song...) Greyhounds had started their set when we arrived. The crowd was loving it. Ang galing din nila. Super! Sayang lang talaga at kulang na sila ng isang member. Their guitarist died at a car accident recently. Sad... but it was good to see that the band was moving on and that they still perform at a 100%.

The itchyworms were performing their song Happy Birthday when it rained again. It was harder this time and they stopped their performance. Boohoo! We didn't leave our spots. to hell with getting wet (we were already wet anyway :p), and we waited for the show to resume. When the rain let up, the fireworks display, which were scheduled at 1 am were started. That was when we thought the show was over. It was a letdown. I wanted to see Sandwich perform and I didn't. Bummer.

We decided to hang out, chatting up a bit as the crowd began to thin out. We could still hear the music over at Camp Blue, and I said to myself, "Kaines.. buti pa dun, tinuloy yung show."

My friends left around 1 am and my siblings, our cousins, Laya, and I were just hanging out at the baywalk. We had coffee and snacks at Kafalua and that was when we felt how tired some of us were. Maybe it was also because we were disappointed that the show was stopped.

It was almost 2:30 am when we decided to go home. Caloy & Rochelle, went to meet some of their friends, and we all took cabs home. While Toppet, Chie & I were in the cab, Caloy called me on my cellphone and said that the bands were still performing over at Camp Yellow, and Sandwich was about to perform. Shet! I was even more diappointed. The organizers didn't announce that they were moving to the other stage. We could have hung out there and watch the other bands perform. As much as we wanted to get out of the cab, we didn't coz it was hard to look for a cab in the city whose driver wouldn't complain that he'd drive us all the way to Las Pinas. And by that time, too... our energy levels were low. I did see Marc Abaya's orange hair when the cab we were riding passed by the stage. huhuhu... Oh well, there's bound to be more events like this. I will get to see Sandwich perform. :)

I'm glad I went though. I got to see friends and my cousins. We were able to hang out. The bands I saw perform were great. And after cancelling gimmick nights the past couple of months, I was able to go. So.. Yay for me!!! hahaha!

Hmm... It's almost 5 am, I need to catch some zzzs now and recharge my batteries... they're almost empty.

the frustrated sleeper

Wednesday, June 23, 2004

I couldn't sleep last night and I got tired of tossing ang turning. Finally I couldn't stand it, so I got up and turned the lights on and sat on my bed for about five minutes thinking of something to do to make me sleep.

It was weird. I was sleepy but I couldn't sleep. I tried counting sheep (i reached 947 then gave up). I sprayed lavender cologne on my pillow, watched tv for a while, then I listened to the radio, and read a book (but I couldn't concentrate on what I was reading so put it down). Nothing worked. And yes, by the time I finished trying all those things, I was frustrated.

I scanned my room, looking for something to do and I found the journal I kept when I was a College freshman. It was wedged between Edith Hamilton's Mythology Book and Jostein Gaarder's Sophie's World. It attracted my eyes to that part of my bookshelf because I thought it was out of place. So OC Jennie got up and took it out of the bookshelf.

As I read my journal entries, I was laughing. I didn't realize I was cheesy until last night. Ahahaha! I tell you, it was kinda embarrassing to read some of my entries and I found myself saying. "YucK! Ang baduy ko, grabeh! I don't remember being this cheesy." Nyahahaha! I guess I'd cringe, too, if I'd read the diary I kept last year. But I wouldn't read that yet - or maybe I will when I can't sleep again. :p

I found this funny poem on my journal. I don't know who wrote it, but I remember I got this from my friend & blockmate, Erica.

ALL BECAUSE HE KISSED ME GOODNIGHT

I climbed the door and opened the stairs,
Said my pyjamas and put on my prayers,
Then turned off the bed and crawled into the light,
All because he kissed me goodnight.

Next morning I woke and scrambled my shoes,
Poloshed my eggs and toasted the news.
I couldn't tell my left from my right,
All because he kissed me goodnight.

That evening, I woke. At last I felt normal again,
So I picked up my mother and called up the phone,
I spoke to the puppy and threw dad a bone.
Even at midnight, the sun was still bright,
ALL BECAUSE HE KISSED ME GOODNIGHT!

happy birthday, gian!!!

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

Today is my nephew Gian Carlo's 5th birthday. Yep, he's the makulit kid I talked about before. The family mascot. hahaha!

Wow. Time flies fast. He's already 5 years old! And to think just a few years ago we were videotaping his baby baths. I wonder how hed feel when he's older and he sees those videos. Hahaha! Pangblackmail :p

I called their house this morning and he was the one who answered. He sounded so perky that I thought he was his cousin Hannah. He, on the other hand thought I was my mom. He called me mommy. Nyahaha! I greeted him happy borthday and after saying thank you he gave the phone to his mom and told her, "Ma, ikaw na kumausap kay Tita Jennie" . Apparently, he wanted to watch tv, rather than talk to me. :p

I asked his mom how he was doing in school and she said he was doing well. Bibong-bibo ang little mama. His mom said that the other day he was complaining coz he always finishes first. He said, "Ma, bakit ba ang bagal nila? Ako mabilis." Wahahaha! Ang yabang, manang-mana sa ama. Hihihi!

Aww.. miss ko na si Giantot!

PS: Chie, salamat sa pictures ni Gian, kinopy ko from your blog.

School...
Tuesday, June 22, 2004

1. What kind of grades did you make/are you making while in school? pretty good, except for the math subjects. hehehe
2. What kind of student were you? for some reason, my classmates thought i was a nerd, but i really am not. but that's okay coz when there are pranks in school, my friends and i get away with it, coz the teachers thought we were goody-goody. hahahah!
3. What was did you do while you were bored in class? i was doodling. all my notebooks had drawings. passed notes. pag super bored, i made ballpen tattoos on my left hand.
4. What subject did you struggle in the most? The one you were good at? i hated trigonometry and geometry (i still don't see the point of proving theorems :p). I was good in english (grammar & lit) and art subjects
5. What do you regret the most about school? I regret not doing better. I mean, I wasn't delinquent or anything like that, but I felt like as long as I passed it was okay. I know I could have done better in some subjects. I felt that I was contented by mediocrity.

what's in a name?

Monday, June 21, 2004

Greetings first before blogging:

1. Belated Happy Father's Day to my popsie;
2. Belated Happy Birthday to one of my best friends, Maita;
3. Happy Birthday to Maita's husband, Gerbee; and
4. Advanced Happy Birthday to my nephew, Gian Carlo.

----------------

When I was younger, I used to wish that I had a different name. A unique name. I wished I didn't have namesakes coz JENNIFER is a very common name.

In all my years in school, from kinder till I graduated in College, there has never been a single class where I was the only Jennifer. In Kinder there were 2 of us, In Grade School, I once had a class where there were 4 other Jennifers and a Jenny. And the two other Jennifers had surnames starting with S, just like me. Sandiego, Sison & me, Sales. We had different nicknames, thank God! Sison was Jenjen, Sandiego was Jen, I was Jennie with an I-E, Jenny was Princess (hmmm...) and the other was called Jenny with a Y.

We were batchmates from Grade School to High School. Aside from the ones that I mentioned, I think there were two more in my batch. Eh paano yun, madami pang Jennifer sa ibang batch? Can you imagine the confusion? I used to look back or answer whenever I hear someone call out Jennifer or other derivatives of the name. Nakakahiya kung sumagot ako, di naman pala ako yung kausap. So now I don't answer immediately, I wait to be called 2 or 3 times, then ask, "ako ba?" Hahaha!

In High School, my barkada called me Jay or simply J, not only to distinguish me from my namesakes, but because that was my ultimate crush's nickname. Ahahahah! So for the latter part of highschool, I was Jay/J.

In College I was back to having the girly nickname Jennie, and the only ones that still called me Jay were my barkada and my batchmates in HS, who went to the same University I did. Surprisingly, even if theoretically we'd have different classmates in every subject, there wasn't a single class where there was no Jennie or Jenny, or Jennifer/Jeniffer/Jenifer.

When I started working, one of my guy friends called me Bebe (bebeh. weird). Another called me Jennie_bebe. Soon after that everyone at the office called me Jennie_bebe, even my Austrian boss. :p

In my family I am Ne, Je, Jepot or Jepotski (only my kuya has the license to call me that, but now he's shortened it to Jep :p), Jennie, Tejen or JENNIFER, when I'm in trouble :p.

I blame the popularity of the name Jennifer, not from the song (yes there is a song :p), but from the book/movie "Love Story" by Erich Segal. The main protagonists were Jennifer Cavileri & Oliver Barrett. Why do I say that? Well, I actually read about it :p. It said that the popularity of the name Jennifer peaked when the book and the movie came out. And because that's one of the reasons my parents named me Jennifer. After I read that article (or was it from a baby book?), I realized that was the reason ther were many namesakes my age. Hahahaha!

I was supposed to be named Rosemarie. No offense to the Rosemarie's out there, but I shudder when I think that I could have been named, Rosemarie. People who know me when they learn that I was supposed to be named that laugh and say that I do not look like a Rosemarie. They said that that name gives them a mental picture of a dainty girl, and that is definitely not me. Hehehe!

I've grown to love my name, even if sometimes friends call me J.Logs (jologs). And I may have hundreds, thousands or even millions of namesakes, I wouldn't want any other name. I don't recall when I realized I liked my name, all I know is that the name has become me. Did that make sense? :p

Besides, explaining the nicknames I have is a good icebreaker. :D

The following song is my videoke staple song. hehehehe.. you could also call it my "signature videoke song". Itaga mo sa bato, basta nag-videoke kami, kelangan kantahin ko yan! Hihihi! Walang makakapigil (pwera na lang kung wala sha sa selection.) One time, my cousins and I went to Padi's Point Antipolo (I think it was my cousin Geng's birthday) and we stayed in the videoke room. When it was my turn to sing, naturally, I chose this song. And I got a perfect score. As in 100! Hahahaha! Eh sa tagal ba naman ng panahon na kinakanta ko ito, dapat lang noh. Nagsasawa na rin siguro sila na lagi ko itong kinakanta. Nyahahaha!

Weak
by SVW

I don't know what it is that you've done to me
But it's caused me to act in such a crazy way
Whatever it is that you do when you do what you’re doing
It's a feeling that I want stay

Coz my heart starts beating triple time
With thoughts of loving you on my mind
I can't figure out just what to do
When the topic here is you

(Chorus)
I get so weak in the knees
I can hardly speak
I lose all control
and something takes over me
In a daze, you look so amazing
It's not a phase
I want you to stay with me
By my side, I swallow my pride
Your love is so sweet,
it knocks me right off of my feet
I can't explain why your loving makes me weak

Time after time after time I try to fight it
Your love is strong it keeps on holding on
Resistance is down when you’re around,
Cries fading
In your condition I don't want to be alone

Coz my heart starts beating triple time
With thoughts of loving you on my mind
I can't figure out just what to do
When the cause and cure is you

(chorus)

Bridge:
I try hard to fight it
No way can I deny it
Your love so sweet
It knocks me off my feet

Chorus

-I get so weak-
Blood starts racing through my veins
-I get so weak-
Boy it's something I can't explain
-I get so weak-
Something bout the way you do
The things you do
It knocks me right off of my feet-
Can't explain why your loving makes me weak

Chorus-until fade

shucks... can't think of a title again :p

I was supposed to have dinner with my friends tonight, but as usual I didn't go. The effects of mom's chemo are starting to be felt already and so I opted to stay home. Anyway, there will be lots of times for me to see my friends and they understand that I need to be here for my mom. :)

I hope my friend, Rianne wouldn't mind that I reposted the following pictures in my blog. I laughed so hard when I saw it that I just had to share it.

Every Friday is 24K Friday on 99.5RT, where they play songs from the 70's to 1996. Friday is my reminiscing day, coz the songs played brings back good memories. The following song was one of my favorites growing up (I don't remember which year it was from, though :p)

Heaven Give Me Words
Propaganda

Take these words they come out wrong
They won't express this old emotional thing
If you could see inside my mind
You'd know the love and feel this passionate thing

You stepped into my locked out world
I felt your touch on my shoulder
You turned my mind right over
Like a child before it learns to speak
I turn to stone, I turn to stone

Heaven give me words to tell you
How I am feeling
What I am needing
Heaven let this message reach you
This desperation
Will stop my heart from beating

I won't be giving in
I'll die if I don't tell you just how I feel
I'll make you truly understand
What kind of man could live with feelings
Of steel
I used to be so self contained
When I thought about love
A conversation heart to heart
I must confess this old emotional thing

Before you think that I'm a fool
There's a flame that burns here
Here's a feeling that's so rare
It's my nightmare when I go to speak
I turn to stone, I turn to stone

Heaven give me words to tell you
How I am feeling
What I am needing
Heaven let this message reach you
This desperation
Will stop my heart from beating
Heaven give me words
Heaven give pride
Heaven let this message reach you

You've seen a heart worn on my sleeve
I must express this old emotional thing
Please be a witness to my dreams
Or I'll wake up and say now
Can this be real?
Before you think that I'm a fool
There's a flame that burns here
Here's a feeling that's so rare
It's my nightmare when I go to speak
I turn to stone, I turn to stone

Heaven give me words to tell you
How I am feeling
What I am needing
Heaven let this message reach you
This desperation
Will stop my heart from beating

Heaven give me words to tell you
How I am feeling
What I am needing
Heaven let this message reach you
This desperation
Will stop my heart from beating

Heaven give me words
Heaven give pride
Heaven let this message reach you

we're home! yey!

Friday, June 18, 2004

First of all, thanks to everyone for the uplifting comments and prayers. :D

I planned to mobile blog last night but I fell asleep quite early, which is a first for me :p hehehehe...

Mom's chemo session went well and we got home before lunch. It's wonderful to be back home. :) Even if I was only gone for a day, I missed the house, especially my room and my bed. Oh don't forget the PC, I missed it too. :p Sige na nga, I missed everyone at home. Hehehe! Shempre naman I missed Dad and my two siblings, Chie & Toppet. Oo na... I even missed our 5 noisy dogs. Hahaha!

Yes, I'm happy today, not only because mom and I are home, but more importantly because mom is in high spirits. For that I am really thankful. In fact, while mom was undergoing treatment last night, she was cheerful. She was listening to the cds I brought (I think she listened to the senti cd, the jazzy cd and my new wave cd), and she was singing along. And she borrowed my j.lo type shades (hehehe.. I think you know how it looks like) coz she said sa was "nasisilaw".

One of her doctors, Dra. Sanchez went to our room and laughed when she saw us. Mom and I had our eyes closed and we both had earphones, I was listening to the radio from my cellphone (thank goodness for that invention :p) and mom was listening to the cd. Hehehe... we were so engrossed, we didn't even notice Dra. Sanchez was there already :p. She said mom was "... a groovy mom."

The chemo session started at 1:30 pm and ended at 6:30 pm. That was good coz mom was able to sleep comfortably, unlike her previous session which started late. By 8 pm the dextrose was taken out so mom was able to move around freely. :) I think of all the sessions mom has had, this was the session where mom was really domfortable. :)

We're going back to St. Luke's for her follow-up check-up. Until then, mom needs to eat food which will make her blood count stay up.

Mom is still in high spirits, as I'm writing this, she's cross-stitching. :) I hope she's in high spirits always.

Happy Weekend! & Happy Father's Day to all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers out there.

hay nakoh...

Thursday, June 17, 2004

It's 12 minutes past midnight. I should be sleeping already coz we're leaving early for the hospital tomorrow (er.. technically it's today ;p). Third chemo cycle ni mommy... I hope it will be the last.

Shet... I'm on emote mode again. I was actually distracting myself since this afternoon so I wouldn't dwell on it. but it's not working. Specially since I read my sister's blog. Haay..

Weird. My siblings and I don't talk about it much, but I know we're all feeling the same thing. They ask me about it, coz I'm always the one accompanying mom to the doctor, for tests and her chemo. But we don't talk about how we feel. I guess we don't talk about it coz we don't want to have a crying fest. That's why I'm grateful that I have friends who I could talk to when I'm feeling down. Like now, as I am writing this, I'm talking to 3 friends who are making me laugh - Mylin, Neil & Clare. Oh and Eloisa on text, 4 friends pala. Yep multitasking again. :) Thanks guys! :D

Blogging and keeping a diary helps, too. At least I can write down how I feel and it somehow eases the pain and it makes me feel better. Thanks to blog friends, too, coz your comments, especially when I'm in this kind of mood, makes me feel so much better.

Hay.. tama na... I gotta get out of this mood. And I gotta catch some zzzs so I won't feel like a zombie in the morning.

manila concert scene

Tuesday, June 15, 2004

Awww shuxxx... Linkin Park concert tonight.. and I am not watching. I'm not watching for a number of reasons, in random order(hehehe.. parang pang-Ms. Universe :p) :

1. Tickets are expensive. There are more important stuff to spend it on;
2. Tonight is mom's tentative third chemo cycle, so I already blocked out the 15th in my calendar. (As of now though, I'm still not sure when it will push through - maybe on Thursday)
3. I'm wary of the Linkin Park "mosh pit" (lame excuse)
4. I didn't win the tickets RT was giving away, no matter how many times I texted in to join :p ;

Hehehe.. jinustify talaga :p

I wasn't able to watch last month's concert of the Black Eyed Peas either, but that's okay. Since ABS-CBN was one of the major sponsors, the group had a lot of appearances on the network & the network affiliates. Overexposure! :p Even the life story of the Filipino-American member, Apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda) was shown on "Maala-ala mo Kaya?", his reunion with his mother & his siblings were shown on another show, "Lukso ng Dugo", and several other shows. Heck.. even the concert was shown on Myx. Hahaha! So it was like I was there, too. :p

I wonder which popular foreign act will visit Manila next?

In my barkada, June is the busiest month. Five friends celebrate their birthdays in June - Bula (June 1), Ria (June 13 - which is also her wedding anniversary), Aimee (June 14 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEEH!), Maita (June 20) & Gerbee, Maita's husband (June 21).

Since it's their birthdays and we haven't seen each other in months, Aimee is coordinating the "get-together" this Saturday, somewhere in Makati. Maita called this morning and said it's probably going to be at their house. I hope I could come, it's been months since I last saw them, but this week mom is due for her third session. We'll know the exact date tomorrow, when we go to St. Luke's for mom's check-up.

My barkada and I have been together since second year high school... more or less, 13 years. Wow... It's been that long already?! nyahahaha! I've known most of them since Grade School, but we became close only in second year. We've been through a lot together, in good times and in bad, and even if we don't see each other that often, we're still here for each other. There may have been conflicts over the years, but we've manage to get through it. High school wouldn't be as fun if I didn't know them - we had so many adventures together, it's a wonder none of us ever got suspended. Hahahaha!

If there's one thing I really like about my barkada, it's how we get to be ourselves, maintain our individualities, and still get along. We're not part of a herd, we think for ourselves and we may disagree about some stuff, but we stick together. We may have other sets of friends, we may not see each other as often as we used to, but I know they're still there in good times and in bad. When have get togethers, we're still the noisy, talkative, naughty, fun-loving bunch we've been since high school. Pag nagkita kami, parang hindi kami matagal na hindi nagkikita. Walang nagbabago. Masaya :D

We've grown together, though the tears and the laughters. and I'm really glad they're my friends.

hooo.. tama na, baka maiyak na ako. hihihi!

Before I continue with my blog entry, I wanna greet my friend...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RIA!

---------------------

My cousin Marlon's Band Version had a gig at the Music Museum last night.. They performed with 3 other bands (it wasd supposed to be 4 but one band didn't show up).

My cousins, my siblings and I went to support them (shempre!). I was very proud of my cousin. Ang galing nya, and I'm not saying this coz he's related to me :p. Their band is really good. I like their repertoir - original compositions, a cover of Elvis's I Can't Help Falling In Love, and a medley of songs, using one chord progression (I'm not really sure how to explain it, hehehe.. basta they started with U2's All I Want Is You and they spliced it with several songs).

The next two bands that performed played all cover songs. And I'm sorry... but they did poor imitations of the songs. Incubus, Hootie and the Blowfish, Maroon 5, Evanescence and Bamboo, would have heart attacks had they heard how the bands murdered their songs. Maybe it was because they had a bad case of the nerves. I don't know....

The last band that performed was really good, though. And for that I am thankful. Their band name is Hollow. Astig yung vocalist, galing ng boses, kakaaliw magperform at yung hair nya... hehehe.. COOL! The bass guitarist was awesome! AS IN! I'm sure punong-puno ng kalyo yung kamay nya, pero ang galing talaga nya. Ang bilis ng fingers...

It was nice to have a night out with my cousins. We hadn't done that in a while. Even if it was raining hard, it was fun. :D

PS: pictures next time... I don't know if my sister transferred the pics to the pc already. :)

ano daw?

Thursday, June 10, 2004

I've had this question in my head since Tuesday and I read two of blog friends' latest blog entries about the same topic. What would you do if your family and friends discovered your blog and read it?

I don't really mind if my family and friends read about my blog (which they actually do :p), except for the times I want to blog about something that is a really BIG secret. You know, the type which you'd probably take to your grave, but you desperately want to let out. I have a handful of those. hehehe... I don't think I will ever have the courage to blog about it (or maybe I'll make another blog, which this time I will keep a secret from the people who personally know me - hahaha!)

Sometimes it's weird when I see friends or cousins and one of the first things they say to mo is, "Hey.. what's this I read in your blog about... blah-blah-blah..." It's kinda awkward when you're face to face and they ask you about something you blogged about (coz it's really easier to divulge spmething if you can't see the other person's face). The anonymity of it all, makes you brave enough to say stuff you wouldn't normally dare say to someone you know.

It makes me feel vulnerable sometimes that they know my thoughts and feelings. But sometimes I'm glad they know how I feel... it makes it easier to open up to them. Or we don't talk about it but at least they know. :)

----------------

Yesterday was M's birthday. I debated with myself the whole day if I should greet him or not. I didn't. Not even a text message. Good for me. :p Coz I dont know if I can handle it if our communication lines were opened again. Besides, he didn't greet me on my birthday - hahaha! ano ito.. gantihan?

Shuxxx... mag-wa-one year na pala yung kagagahan ko... O Chie wag na mag-react, isa yan sa sikretong malufet ko. :P

---------------

I read my sister's blog this morning and I saw the latest pics of our nephew Gian. Ang kulet ng pictures! Namiss ko tuloy sha bigla. Si Giantot papasok na sa pre-school next week... awww.. kawawa naman yung teacher. hahahaha!

---------------

My cousin Marlon's band Version will have a performance at the Music Museum this Saturday, with 3 other bands. ASTEEG! Oooooh, Yay! Gimmick time with the Teodosio cousins again.

mobile blogging

Monday, June 07, 2004

I'm just trying out another new feature of blogger - mobile blogging. Cool noh? I can blog anywhere, anytime i'm bored, and without pc & net access. Astig! I learned about this new feature from louis. Thanks dude! :D

I'll have sore thumbs again. hahahaha!!!

How does mobile blogging work? You can read all about it here.

ang lameeeg!!!

Ayan.. i added the haloscan comment box again. para yun sa mga walang blogger account, kasi anonymous ang lumalabas pag nagcomment eh. hahaha! ang arte ko talaga ;p

There's another storm in the country, just in time for the first day of classes in all public schools & some private schools. I'm sure the grade school kids are very happy, coz classes in their level wwre suspended. I remember feeling ecstatic everytime classes were suspended due to typhoons, except when i was in college coz DLSU wouldn't suspend classes unless roofs were flying. :p

Actually, the storm isn't that strong. It's just been raining nonstop and there are only wind gusts once in a while. Bed weather :) Super nice to stay snuggled in bed and sleep (or do whatever it is you have in mind. wahahah!).

survery galore!

I haven't answered surveys in while. :0 I kinda missed it, so here goes...

These questions came from Daily Dirt

Would you rather?

1. ...date a guy way older than you or a guy shorter than you? I would rather date a guy shorter than me (but not too short :p). I couldn't imagine myself dating someone waaaay older, maybe 10 years at most but not 20 or so. hehehe!
2. ...date a guy fatter than you or way skinnier than you? hehehe... hirap naman :p
3. ...date a guy who is an unsensitive hunk or a guy who is a caring yet ugly geek? caring ugly geek
4. ...date a guy who says he "loves you" or a guy who says "he's in love with you"? i honestly don't know the difference, but saying he loves me sounds better to me.
5. ...date a guy who's lean muscular or a guy who's buff muscular? lean muscular.. scary yung super buff, noh :p

Art...

1. What is your favorite painting? Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Starry, Starry Night. But since I've read The Da Vinci Code I've been fascinated with the paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci
2. What is your favorite animated TV show? Spongebob Squarepants!
3. How are your favorites above similar to each other? I don't see any similarity aside from the fact that Sunflowers and Spongebob are both yellow. wahahahah!
4. Would you rather be a painter or an animator? Painter. I love to paint, though I haven't done that in a while. Animation sounds more complicated and tedious. :p
5. Is there a type of painting or animation that you can't stand? I know he's considered a great artist, but I don't like Picasso's works. I prefer the works of Van Gogh, Da Vinci, and Monet. With regard to animation, I don't like 'Hey Arnold!"

The Reason...

1. Have you ever done something to impress someone? who hasn't?
2. Did you feel right doing it? nope, it felt kinda deceiving, not only to that person, but to myself, as well.
3. Have you ever tried to change yourself for someone? Become a better person maybe, but not change my beliefs & morals just because I was impressing someone.
4. What did you change? think more before speaking, become less temperamental
5. Do you regret ever doing something just to get someones attention? my motto is no regrets: everything happens for a reason.

Music...

1. What genre(s) of music do you like? I like all types of music, it depends on my mood. I, however, cannot stand those annoying Pinoy novelty songs, which is very popular nowadays (sexbomb, masculados, hot babes.. syet!), and country & polka music. :p
2. How do you determine if a person has a 'good taste' in music? I think a person has good taste in music if it's eclectic, he/she knows and likes not only the popular ones but also the obscure, mainstream and underground.
3. Do you base other people's liking in music, upon your own likings?
4. What is one of the most important things about music to you? The melody, the lyrics, the thoughts it convey - a mix of everything. It's also important how the musi cmoves me.
5. Do you believe the media has changed music (ie: showing skin, lyrics, etc)? Why or why not? I think media has changed music in a way. There are more "manufactured" artists - artists who look good, have passable voice quality - all about the image. But I also think that people have become more discerning in their taste in music. And that makes music evolve.

mission accomplished

Whew! finally after half a day, my blog looks like how I envisioned it. It was tiring and frustrating at times, but I'm very happy about how it turned out. YAY!

So I'm going to rest my eyes now and I shall leave you, my dear blog (hehehe), with Maria Mena's song. ASTIG yung lyrics. wahahahah!

Shucks... I've missed reading so many of my friend's blogs... I hope to read evrything I've missed this weekend.

YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE
by MARIA MENA

Well I saw you with your hands above your head,
Spinning around, trying not to look down,
But you did, and you fell,
Hard
On the ground

Then you stumbled around for a good ten minutes,
And I said I've never seen anyone look so dumb before
And you laughed and said
“I still know how to turn you on though”

And you're the only one who
Drags me kickin and screamin through fast dreams
And you're the only one who
Knows exactly what I need

And I probably forgot to tell you this
Like the time when I forgot to tell you about the scar,
Remember how uncomfortable that made you feel?
See you're not what I expected,
But you're the only one who knows how to handle me,
And you're such a great kisser,
And I know that you agree

And you're the only one who
Drags me kickin and screamin through fast dreams
And you're the only one who
Knows exactly what I need

I hope you can forgive me for that time
When I put my hand between your legs and said it was small,
Cause it's really not at all
I guess there's just a part of me that likes to bring you down
Just to keep you around,
Cause the day that you realize how amazing you are
You're gonna leave me!

And you're the only one who
Holds my hair back when I'm drunk and get sick
And you're the only one who
Knows exactly what I mean

And you're the only one who
Drags me kickin and screamin through fast dreams
And you're the only one who
Knows exactly what I need

Exactly what I need

Well I saw you with you hands above your head,
Spinning around, trying not to look down,
But you did, and you fell,
Hard
On the ground

new look! new look!

Yay! I love this day

Wednesday, June 02, 2004

Finally I'll be able to post something happy on this blog. Yay!

My siblings and I watched Harry Potter this morning. I loved it. The best Harry Potter movie so far. :) Gary Oldman was great, as usual. And Harry Potter, er.. I mean Daniel Radcliffe, I think is turning into a heartthrob (if he isn't yet :p)

Then, when we were on our way home, nasalubong naming tatlo sila Nathan, Bamboo & Ira of the Band Bamboo. Ayus! Needless to say, natulala ako. Nabangga sa akin brother ko kasi napatigil ako sa paglakad. Kakahiya. Hahaha!

Will post more tomorrow. Dinner muna ako. :)
